Located in the heart of Sidney, Montana, the Sidney Elks Lodge 1782 is a cornerstone of community spirit, bringing people together with a shared commitment to service, charity, and camaraderie. The meetings are held at the Lodge the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at 7 PM.
The Sidney Elks Lodge is part of the larger Elks National Foundation, which aims to build stronger communities by investing in local initiatives that support youth development, veterans, education, and more. The foundation plays a key role in helping to develop lifelong skills in young people, sending students to college, assisting veterans in need, and supporting various charitable programs within Elks communities. The core values of the Elks revolve around knowledge, integrity, and community-ensuring that each initiative contributes to the overall well-being of the local area.
The Sidney Elks Lodge is proud to host several annual events that bring the community together and help raise funds for important causes. These include: Easter Egg Hunt at Veterans Memorial Park, a beloved family event for children in Sidney, an annual Hoop Shoot, April Raffle, with daily drawings offering exciting prizes, the “Wanna Be an Elk” 4-Person Golf Scramble and Auction, a fun-filled event that benefits a deserving community member each year, and a scholarship program, providing financial support to deserving local high school students as they further their education. This year they have added the Sunrise City Smash-Up Demolition Derby to their community offerings.
During the summer months, the Lodge hosts weekly BBQs for its members and the local community, fostering a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. In addition, they offer meals by local members scheduled inside the lodge when the weather isn’t favorable, creating a sense of belonging for all.
The Sidney Elks Lodge also plays a role in helping the community by renting out its building for weddings and special events, providing a venue for locals to celebrate life’s milestones.
The Lodge is guided by a dedicated group of individuals committed to upholding the values of the Elks and making a positive impact on Sidney. The current leadership includes Randy Iversen – Exalted Ruler, Bobbie Selensky – Leading Knight, Karmen Schmierer – Treasurer, Lynn Shelmerdine – Secretary, Josh Herman – Trustee, Lee Armstrong – Chaplain, Pam Shelmidine – Tiler, Kris Weltikol – Loyal Knight, Viola Andersen – Esquire, Jackie Laqua – Inner Guard
