Cathy’s journey into the insurance world began when she was approached by Farmers Union Insurance, seeking an agent in the area. “I was blessed with the opportunity to partner with a great Montana-owned insurance company that understands and supports what Montana is about,” Cathy shares. This partnership has allowed Hintz Insurance to offer a broad range of services including Farm/Ranch, Homeowners, Auto, Commercial, Crop, and Life insurance policies (excluding health insurance).

Cathy is passionate about the community she serves, saying, “Sidney and the surrounding area is a fantastic place to do business. The people are down-to-earth, kind, and honest, and they’re great to work with.” The sense of community and the relationships Cathy has built are something she deeply values. “I’ve met some wonderful people and made lifelong friends in the process. It’s all about the people!”

Both the agency and Farmers Union Insurance are strong supporters of the MHSA and local FFA chapters. “Youth and our agricultural community are at the top of the list when it comes to what we support,” Cathy says, reflecting on her commitment to giving back.
When asked for advice for someone interested in starting a business in Sidney, Cathy encourages perseverance. “Go for it! Work hard, get involved in the community, and stick with it. It may take some long hours and hard work, but there is no better place to be.”
Cathy credits much of her inspiration to her husband, Jeff, who leads by example when it comes to working hard and putting in the time and effort to do something well. “He is supportive and understanding, and I appreciate that!”
Looking ahead, Cathy remains hopeful about the future of Sidney. “It’s hard for small communities to draw business to our remote area sometimes, but Sidney has a lot of positives to offer. I hope that it is where young people want to move to, creating more opportunities for those wanting a great way of life in Eastern MT.”
