This month’s Learning Lab takes participants to Fort Buford for Barracks Boot Camp, where they’ll experience what life was really like for a U.S. Army soldier stationed on the Northern Plains. Young recruits will learn about the daily routines, discipline, and teamwork that kept a frontier post running as they make their own military bunk, practice marching drills, send messages using Morse code, and explore the equipment and skills soldiers relied on every day. Along the way, they’ll discover how military life was about much more than drills and battles, it was about cooperation, responsibility, and adapting to life on the frontier.
