Patti McGinnis
Farm Loan Officer (retired), Farm Service Agency
For 38 years, Patti has been a steadfast presence in the Farm Service Agency (FSA), where she most recently served as the sole farm loan officer for Richland County. Her career has spanned both the farm loan and farm program sides of the agency, offering support to producers through everything from large-scale operating loans to youth projects. Patti’s energy, commitment, and deep knowledge of agriculture have made her a vital resource for area farmers and ranchers navigating complex federal programs.
“It takes a special kind of person to work a full career in public service,” said a colleague. “Patti brings warmth, dedication, and genuine care for the people she serves. She has made a difference every single day.”
Patti is known not only for her technical expertise but also for her thoughtful nature and infectious positivity. Whether helping a young producer start a new venture or lending an ear to a customer, she consistently goes above and beyond to brighten others’ days and foster a collaborative spirit in the office.
But when asked what she’s most proud of in her life, her answer comes easily: her family. “My greatest accomplishment is being a mom,” Patti says. “Watching my kids, Michael and Ryan, grow up and being able to follow them in all four seasons of sports, that’s what has meant the most to me, from football, basketball, swimming, and more.” She has been involved in her church as a confirmation and Sunday school teacher. She was a 4H leader and a board member of the many sports booster clubs over the years.
Alongside her husband Brian, Patti has built a life rooted in community, compassion, and a tireless work ethic. Her love for her customers and colleagues reflects her deep commitment to service, while her impact on Richland County’s agricultural community is both enduring and profound. Patti stated “I love serving my customers, the farmers and ranchers in our area. There are a lot of wonderful people in our area that work hard every day. I will miss them. That is the hardest part of my recent decision to retire”. After nearly four decades of service, Patti McGinnis is stepping into retirement, and a well-earned next chapter. With a sense of pride and fulfillment. As she prepared for retirement, Patti shares that people might be surprised to learn how excited she is for this new chapter. After all she’s given to her work and her community, there’s no doubt she’s earned the time to relax, though anyone who knows her suspects she won’t stay still for long.
