Marcy Johnson

General Manager, Saloon 27 & Ranger Lounge & Casino

In the rhythm of Sidney’s day-to-day life, there are places that serve as more than just bars or restaurants; they are community anchors, places where familiar faces gather, and where relationships are built. At the heart of two of Sidney’s most cherished spots, the Saloon 27 and the Ranger Lounge is Marcy Johnson, the General Manager whose leadership, compassion, and commitment have shaped these establishments into more than just places to grab a drink.

Marcy’s journey began right here in Sidney, where she grew up and developed a deep appreciation for the values of small-town life. At the age of 18, she stepped into the hospitality world through a job at the Ranger Lounge, not realizing then that she was beginning a lifelong career that would eventually define her role in the community.

“I enjoy my job because of the people,” Marcy says with a smile. “My coworkers, our regulars, the folks who walk through the door for the first time, it’s the people who make every day worth it.” In Sidney, relationships come naturally. There’s a closeness that only small towns offer, and Marcy thrives in that environment. “You get to know everyone, and then you care about them. You really do. It’s not just about serving, it’s about connecting.”

That genuine connection extends well beyond the walls of the bar. Marcy is a member of the Board for the Annie Oakley Animal Rescue, she brings the same compassion to animal rescue as she does to her work and relationships.

Her leadership is both quiet and commanding, a balance that has earned her immense respect from both employees and business owners. One of her nominators shared, “Marcy is the driving force behind two very good operations. She’s always exceeding expectations, always leading by example. Her presence is what keeps things running smoothly, and more importantly, joyfully.”

Marcy’s role isn’t just managerial; it’s personal. She sets the tone for a positive work culture, encouraging her team to be not only efficient but also kind and courteous. “She makes sure everyone treats each other, and the customers, with respect and joy,” the nominator added. “She never hesitates to step in when help is needed. She’s always the first to ask, ‘What can I do?’”

Despite her many responsibilities, Marcy is grounded by the thing she’s most proud of: her family. It’s her foundation and motivation, a constant source of strength and pride. And when she’s not managing two busy venues or supporting local causes, she finds peace in simple pleasures, traveling, biking, or enjoying a walk outdoors.

In every role she plays – manager, community volunteer, family woman, Marcy Johnson embodies the values that make Sidney special. Her story is one of dedication, resilience, and heart. She doesn’t just run successful businesses; she helps create a community where people feel welcome, supported, and seen.

For Sidney, and for everyone lucky enough to know her, Marcy is more than a manager. She’s a connector. A caretaker. A quiet force who makes a loud impact.
