JordAnne Huffman
Principal, Sidney Middle School
For JordAnne Huffman, education isn’t just a profession; it’s a lifelong calling rooted in personal experience, community connection, and a deep desire to make a difference. Recently named the new Principal of Sidney Middle School, JordAnne brings nearly 20 years of experience in education across North Dakota and Montana to her latest leadership role. Her journey to this position reflects a career marked by resilience, dedication, and a passion for helping students and staff succeed.
In 2021, JordAnne was recognized as Educator of the Year, a testament to her commitment to continuous growth, innovation in the classroom, and student-centered leadership. Known for her ability to foster strong relationships and build positive school culture, she consistently seeks ways to improve learning environments and support all learners. Whether in the classroom or in leadership, JordAnne has always made it a priority to create spaces where students thrive.
A native of Beach, North Dakota, JordAnne’s path to education began early. Her grandmother, a retired educator and administrator from Colorado, was a strong influence in her life. “Education was instilled in me at a very young age,” she recalls. “My grandma, along with many of my own teachers, played a big role in shaping who I’ve become.”
After high school, JordAnne pursued her teaching degree at Mayville State University. When teaching positions in North Dakota were scarce, she chose to continue her education at the University of Mary in Bismarck, earning a master’s degree in special education. Her teaching career would take her across classrooms in both North Dakota and Montana, ultimately leading her to Sidney.
It was during her time at West Side Elementary in Sidney that her colleagues recognized her leadership potential and encouraged her to pursue school administration. Fueled by a desire to have a greater impact, JordAnne earned her administrative credentials through Rocky Mountain University, all while raising a busy young family. Now, as the new principal of Sidney Middle School, she’s excited to bring that same energy, compassion, and experience to a new generation of learners and educators.
“Positively impacting families and mentoring teachers is the part I enjoy the most about work,” JordAnne says. “I’ve also enjoyed building lifelong relationships with coworkers and families over the years.” She draws inspiration daily from the many teachers, coaches, and mentors she’s worked with throughout her career, and she’s always looking for new ways to grow as a leader.
Despite her many accomplishments, JordAnne is open about the challenges she’s faced along the way. “People may be surprised to know that my path hasn’t been easy,” she shares. “Facing personal struggles has helped shape my resilience and strengthened my commitment to education and community.”
Outside of her work at school, JordAnne is a devoted mom to three children, Ella and twins Bradlee and Lilah. The family stays active with sports and community events, and JordAnne also finds time to walk, lift weights, golf, travel, and enjoy meals with friends. She currently volunteers with Sidney Fastpitch Softball and Youth Summer Softball and is always eager to support youth and athletics in any way she can. “I’m honored to receive this recognition and am grateful to be part of both the school system and the Sidney community,” she says. As she steps into this new chapter as principal, JordAnne Huffman remains focused on the same goals that have guided her from the beginning: empowering students, supporting teachers, and building a better future—one day at a time.
