Wings of Freedom II

September 26 & 27, 2009
Sidney Richland Airport/Burns Field

Wings of Freedom Air Show
One of the finest air shows ever in the state of Montana, Wings of Freedom II, and the only performance of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds in Montana this year will be held at the Sidney Richland Airport on September 26 & 27, 2009.
While the Snowbirds are the featured act, many other professional and well known performances will be held both days. The show will begin each day at 1:00 p.m. with Skydive North Dakota parachute jumping with the national flags. Jim Peitz will be performing in his Extra 300L, one of the world’s most respected aerobatic aircraft. Kent and Warren Pietsch will be performing separately in unique acts, then together in a performance that will thrill the crowd. Newcomer to our show, John Mohr, performs extremely difficult maneuvers in a meticulously restored 1943 stock 220 Stearman bi-plane. Gene Soucy will perform in his Grumman Show Cat with Wing-Walker Teresa Stokes. Sidney’s own Phil Petrik, having just returned from the Osh Kosh Air Show, will amaze the crowd in his T-28. Award winning air show announcer Danny Clisham is an honorary Snowbird and well-acquainted with all of the acts, so will add that extra exciting touch to this event. All of these acts will be performing on both days.
The fly-in breakfast will begin at 8:00 a.m., when the gates open to the public each day, and radio controlled aircraft from the Plane Folks will put on a show. At the same time, many military planes will be on static display. There will be 8 concession and souvenir stands, opportunities for autographs, and plenty of free parking. Tickets are available pre-sale for adults for $12 and at the gate for $15 each day. Student prices are $8 for ages 5 to 14 and children 4 and under are free. Bring your own chairs and prepare to be entertained beyond your imagination for 3 - 4 hours.
On Saturday night the Sidney Chamber will host a Meet the Pilots banquet where Apollo 8 astronaut Frank Borman, the first man ever see the dark side of the moon, will be the featured speaker. Tickets are available for $40. It will be catered by the Ranger and Miller’s Corner. Call the Chamber at 406-433-1916 for all information and to purchase tickets.
